James Neal Scruggs, 85 of Benton Harbor passed away on Saturday August 23, 2014 at Caretel Assisted Living in St. Joseph
A Visitation will be held to celebrate Jim’s life on Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice at Home. Friends wishing to send condolences may do so at the guest book at www.starks-menchinger.com
Jim was born on February 24, 1929 to Robert & Ruby (Harrison) Scruggs in Beebe, AR.. He served our country in the United States Marine Corps during WWII. During his life he was a real estate investor.
He is survived by his dear friend Nancy Johnson; three sons- James N.(Brenda) Scruggs Jr., Rodney G. Scruggs, Mark D. Scruggs; a daughter Betty Ann (James A.) Newman; six grandchildren – Jesse Scruggs, Jeffrey Scruggs, James N. Shuld, Alexandra L. Richardson, Erin F. Scruggs, Jason M. Scruggs; several Great and great great Grandchildren ; a brother Edwin F. Scruggs; a sister Alice Faye Spence.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son Ronald Lynn Scruggs.
