Dora Gallas

Dora Gallas, 91 of Stevensville passed away Monday, March 17 at CrownPointe Assisted Living. Dora was born October 2, 1922 in Riga, Lativia to Gustav & Julianna (Lutz) Nickel. At the age of 2 Dora’s family immigrated to America where the family settled in BentonHarbor. She learned to speak English while attending school and graduated from BentonHarborHigh School in 1940.  On December 16, 1950_she wed Alfred Gallas. Dora kept a busy schedule caring for her home and children. She worked part time at Sears Catalog for 10 years. In her spare time she enjoyed playing the organ and reading. She is survived by her son Greg (Vicki) Gallas of Grand Rapids, MI; daughter Cynthina (Paul) Ayars of Lincoln, IL; 5 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Alfred in 1995, and siblings Erica, Elsa, Arnie and Art. A Celebration on Life Service will be held privately at a later date.
