Dolores Karnowsky

Dolores Karnowsky, 80, of Coconut Creek, Florida, formerly of Benton Harbor & St. Joseph, passed away Monday, July 20, 2009 at Northwest Medical Center in Margate, Florida. Graveside Services will be held 10:00 A.M. Thursday, July 23, 2009 at Temple Beth-El Memorial Park Cemetery in Benton Harbor. Arrangements are entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Karnowsky was born September 6, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois to David & Fay (Thorshinsky) Alterman. In 1951, she married Herman Karnowsky. He preceded her in death on April 10, 2008. Dolores devoted herself to her family. She cherished the time spent with them, especially her grandchildren who referred to her as “Bubbie”. Dolores was active at Temple B’nai Shalom with various activities & committees before moving to Florida. She volunteered at both Mercy & Memorial Hospitals. In her spare time, Dolores enjoyed the Theater, Ballet and the Arts. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Dolores is survived by her daughters-Debby (Barry) Glick of Boca Raton, Florida, Abby Melnick of Durham, North Carolina; and four grandchildren-Aaron & Hilary Glick, & Jason & Caryn Winberg. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
