Jerry L. Davis

Jerry L. Davis, 74, of Riverside, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2009 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:30 A.M. Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Rev. Paul Koehneke officiating. A private burial will be held at a latter date. Friends may call from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross, The Bruce Zech Memorial College Fund or donors choice. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Jerry was born August 22, 1935 in Benton Harbor, MI to Marvin & Mable (Riggs) Davis. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1953. He proudly served his country in the US Navy. On September 12, 1959 he married Margie Schulz in St. Joseph. Jerry worked as a plant manager for Sanitary Cleaners for 54 years. His dedication and work ethic were unmatched. Jerry was a member of the Naval Sea Cadets and was on the Hagar #6 School board. In his spare time he enjoyed having coffee with his friends at Martins, woodworking, was an avid Cubs & Bears fan, and was always surprising his family with treats. Most of all, he enjoyed his family and friends, and would do anything for them. Jerry is survived by his wife Margie Davis of Riverside; three children Larry (Jodi) Davis of Coloma, Jeff (Suzette) Davis of Eau Claire and Suzanne (Jeff) Culby of Riverside; eight grandchildren Kirstin, Devin, Rachael, Nathan, Haley, Skylaar Davis and Taylor, and Spencer Culby; Nephews Howard of TN, Scott of TX, and Brent of GA. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Maradel Kittell and a brother James Davis.
