Ida Riegel

Ida May (Landess) Riegel, 82 of St. Joseph, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2009 at her home surrounded by her family. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 17, at Starks and Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph. Burial will follow at Hickory Bluff Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 16, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Ida was born on March 4, 1927 in Portland, IN to Charles and Dorothy (Lee) Landess. Ida later married Robert Riegel on December 21, 1946 in Redkey, IN. She retired in 1992 from Hughes Plastic after 23 years of service. Ida is survived by her two sons, Larry Riegel of St. Joseph, Carl (Julie) Riegel of Stevensville and her two daughters, Tamara (Kirk) Oisten of Allegan and Rhonda Riegel of Albuquerque, NM. Ida is survived by three brothers, Harry (Carol) Landess of Atheu, TN, Glen (Peggy) Landess of Lynnfield, MA, Kenneth (Jane) Landess of Atlanta, GA and two sisters, Mabel Newlin of Matthew, IN and Mary Helen Sandefur of Madisonville, KY. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Julia May Riegel and Tony Riegel, two great grandchildren, Nathaniel and Michael Rudolph and a sister-in-law, Wilma Grissom of Muncie, IN.
