Eleanor A. Poschke

Eleanor A. Poschke, 91, of Benton Harbor, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2009 at her home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Tuesday May 5, 2009 at Starks and Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI with Rev. William Bertsch officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Monday, May 4th from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Eleanor was born on June 12, 1917 to Otto and Antonia (Biastock) Gross in St. Joseph, MI. She married George Poschke in St. Joseph on April 29, 1939. Together, they raised three children, Lynn, David and Janis. Eleanor lived on Lake Michigan for many years and enjoyed Silver Beach. She retired after 25 years from the assembly department at Heath Company in St. Joseph. One of her proudest accomplishments included assembling the first color television kit for Heath Co. She was past president of the Ladies Guild and choir at St. Peters Church. Eleanor enjoyed building kits, painting, and traveling. Most of all she loved spending time with her family. She is survived by her children, Lynn (Sherry) Poschke of Vidalia, GA, David (Bonnie) Poschke of Benton Harbor, Janis (Eugene) Wohler of Stevensville; Grandchildren, Lynn Anthony Poschke II, Jannah Simpson, Christine Martin, Bobbi Genovese, Lorraine Mitchell, Steven Poschke, and David A. Poschke; 14 Great grand-children; several nieces and nephews; and her faithful dog, Sam. She is preceded in death by her husband, George in 1993, her parents, Otto and Antonia and her grandson, Lorne Andrew “Andy” Poschke.
