Yvonne Adam

Yvonne Adam, 83, of St. Joseph, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2009 at her home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, May 28, 2009 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 555 Delaware in Benton Harbor with Fr. William J. Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at Starks and Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Yvonne was born June 8, 1925 in East Angus, Canada to Salim & Shemna Cassar. On November 8, 1953 she married John Adam in Sherbrook, Quebec. He preceded her in death on December 21, 1978. Yvonne worked in sales for Hennes Company in St. Joseph. She was also a foster grandma for the YMCA. In her spare time she enjoyed going to her Thursday night prayer group, having coffee at McDonalds with her friends, going for long walks, and especially spending time with her family and grandchildren. Yvonne is survived by her daughter Debra (Keith) Adams of South Bend; sister Grace Bahde of Massachusetts; three grandchildren John Adam of Jackson, Wyoming, Joseph and Chelsea Adam of Kalamazoo and daughter-in-law Carole Adam of Kalamazoo. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Louis Adam; one sister Flora Cassar; and long time companion Kenneth Osburn.
