Roy's Obituary

Roy Lee Bryant, 76, of Benton Harbor, passed away Monday, March 23, 2009, surrounded by his loving family at his home. A Celebration of Life Eternal Memorial Service will be held 11:30 A.M. Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church, 404 E. Glenlord Rd., St. Joseph, with Rev. Glenn Rosenbaum officiating. Burial of ashes will be held at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Friends may call from 5:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at “http://www.starks-menchinger.com” Mr. Bryant was born April 14, 1932 in Tresvant, Tennessee, to Robert Sr. & Beulah (Hampton) Bryant. Roy was employed as an ironworker with Local #292 in South Bend, retiring in 1981. In 1953 he married the former Shirley Price in Benton Harbor. She preceded him in 1978. In 1983, Roy married the former Sandra Lee Katowich. She preceded him in 2008. Roy was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed camping and tinkering with engines and farm equipment. Roy is survived by his daughters-Kim (Michael) Partridge & Tonda (Dennis) Morgan, both of Eau Claire, Leasha Scherer of St. Joseph; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers-Robert (Mary) Bryant, Jr., Donnie (Judy) Bryant, and a sister Norma Jean Sirk, all of Little Rock, AK. In addition to his wives, Roy was preceded in death by his parents, his son Roy Lee Bryant, Jr. in 1962, and two brothers-Edward Bryant in 1962 and Ronnie Bryant in 2007.
