Melvin D. Peete

Melvin ‘Dale’ Peete, 69, of St. Joseph, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at his home. A Celebration of Life Service was held 11:00 A.M. on Friday March 20, 2009 at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Pastor Dan Miller. Burial followed at North Shore Memory Gardens. Friends called from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Friday March 20, 2009 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice in House in Kalamazoo. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Mr. Peete was born June 28, 1939 in Vanndale, Arkansas to Crelva & Gwendola (Carter) Peete. Dale graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1959. After high school he served in the U.S. Army. On May 2, 1964 he married Barbara Switzer in Benton Harbor. Dale worked for Industrial Pattern, Twin City Pattern, Star Pattern in Benton Harbor and Holland Pattern in Holland, MI. Dale retired from Frierdich Pattern Works in Bridgman. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Peete is survived by two nephews Greg and Randy Plummer; his sister-in-law Dorothy Zeglot; brother-in-law Elmer Zeglot; his niece Lora Ryan; and two great nephews-Zakary & Colten Ryan, all of Atlanta, GA; and many friends and neighbors. In addition to his parents Dale was preceded in death by his wife, and sister Marguerite.
