Robert's Obituary

Robert C. Kuball, 84, of Benton Harbor, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2009 at his home surrounded by his loving family. A Celebration of Life Eternal will be held at 11:30 A.M. Saturday at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Colfax at Kline Ave., Benton Harbor with Rev. Martin Weigand & Rev. Richard Henning officiating. Friends may call from 9:30 A.M. Saturday until service time at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Man to Man, or Lakeland Hospice. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Mr. Kuball was born April 29, 1924 in Stevensville to Gustav & Ida (Bujack) Kuball. He graduated from Stevensville High School in 1943. Bob served his country in the US Army during WWII. He received five Bronze Stars for participation in Normandy, Northern France, Central Europe and the Ardennes. He also received the WWII Victory Medal and the Croix de Guerne issued by General De Gaule of France. On June 22, 1946, he married the former Irene ‘Tootie’ Klupp at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bridgman. Bob was employed at Whirlpool Corporation for thirty-six years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church where he served in many capacities. Bob and Tootie were members of the OWLS, and served on the Sunshine Committee-bringing smiles to many shut-ins and those in area nursing homes. He was also a member of Man to Man Support Group, VFW Post #1137, and Stevensville American Legion #568. In his spare time, Bob enjoyed woodworking, tending to his vegetable & flower gardens, collecting die cast cars, feeding and watching the birds in his yard, and watching NASCAR. Bob is survived by his wife of sixty-two years Irene; his son Larry (Cyndi) Kuball, Sr. of Benton Harbor; his daughter-in-law Pam (Bob) Kole of Niles; four grandchildren-Chris (Scott) Kurland of St. Joseph, Larry (Linda) Kuball, Jr. of Baroda, Taylor (Sara) Tisdale of Niles, Lisa (John) Jameson of Kalamazoo; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Gary Kuball in 1975, and by three brothers & three sisters.
