Carl L. Starner

Carl Lee Starner, 62, of Sodus, passed peacefully from this earth on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph, MI. A memorial service will be scheduled for a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, St. Joseph, MI. Carl was born January 22, 1947 in St. Joseph to Omar and Vera (Priebe) Starner. On July 24, 2002 in South Bend, IN he married Lynn Weese. Carl was a firefighter for Benton Township Fire Department. He retired in April of 2005 with the rank of Lieutenant. Carl was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt and fish. Carl also enjoyed racing snowmobiles and drag racing cars. But most of all he loved his family. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.& Carl is survived by his wife Lynn; his children, Jeff (Jennifer) Starner of Buchanan, MI, Matthew Starner of Byron Center, MI, Nicole Starner of Sodus, Amy Ashley of Sodus, Shannon Parish of LaPorte, IN and Amber (Raul) Vargas of Kalamazoo; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild; and two nieces, Shelley Woodrow and Leslie Montoya both of Las Vegas. He is preceded in death by his parents-Omar and Vera, and a sister-Vicki Sullivan.
