Marjorie S. Reece

Marjorie J. (Sloan) Reece, 86, of St. Joseph, formerly of Marion, Indiana, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2009 at her home. Graveside services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 2, 2009 at Estates of Serenity Cemetery in Marion with Rev. Marcus Combs officiating. Memorials may be made to Women’s Life Charitable Fund-St. Jude Cancer Research or Polycystic Kidney Foundation. She graduated from Marion High School in 1941. She was employed by Ohio Bell Telephone, retiring in 1979. Marjorie was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, and in her spare time enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, shopping, and most of all, the time spent with her family especially her great grandchildren. Ms. Reece is survived by her children-Wendy Warren of St. Joseph, Nicholas (Barbara) VanLandingham of English, IN, Becky (Bruce) Janko of Hilliard, OH; her daughter-in-law Kanita Benbow of Marion, IN; fourteen grandchildren-Laura (Jacob) Rowe, Joseph Janko, John (Patsy) VanLandingham, Suzie Newman, Jennifer (Matthew) Meyer, Julie (Gene) Doerr, Sabrina (Joshua) Hunt, Nicole Warren, Kelli Dean, Penny (Mitch) Smithson, Jodi Devine, Shelly, Brittany, Brandi, & Scott; eighteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; her brother-Kenneth (Alene) Sloan of Marion, IN; and two sisters-Louise Shinault of Fischers, IN & Madonna Hendy of Marion, IN. She was preceded in death by her son Michael VanLandingham, Sr. in 2006, her son-in-law Wally Warren, Jr. in 2007, her grandson Michael VanLandingham, Jr., and three brothers-Charles, Archie, & Max Sloan.
