Marian Spingar

Marian E. Spingar, 84, formerly of the Twin Cities area, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2009 in Rochester, NY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, St. Joseph. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Mrs. Spingar was born April 20, 1925 in St. Joseph to Paul & Bertha (Zupke) Witkowski. Marian was employed as a bookkeeper at Barentsen Candy Co. in Benton Harbor for twenty-four years. On December 23, 1962, she married Charles Spingar. He preceded her in death on January 10, 1977. In her spare time, Marian enjoyed bowling. She served as the treasurer of the Southwestern Michigan Women’s Bowling Association for twenty-nine years. Mrs. Spingar is survived by two daughters-Beth Spingar of Webster, NY, Marian Dee (Grant) Spitzke of Vail, AZ; two grandchildren-Amylyn (Rod) Spaid, Mark (Jennifer & Bradon) Spitzke; one great-grandchild-Justin Spaid; two sisters-Hilda Phipps of Howard, OH Carol Tober of Tuscon, AZ; and her brother Herbert (Ardis) Witkowski of North Manchester, IN.
