Lyn Tollas McAlvey

Lyn Tollas McAlvey, 52, of St. Joseph, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2009, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Pastor Kendall Holder. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Baroda Church of God Building Fund or Michigan Make a Wish Foundation. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Lyn was born September 25, 1956 in Benton Harbor, Michigan to Bud & Sally (Connelly) Talbot. She graduated from Lakeshore High School in 1974. In 1978, she received her Bachelors Degree from Michigan State University. On August 14, 2003 she married Rod McAlvey in St. Joseph. Lyn was the owner of All About Blinds and Design. Lyn was also a member of the A.S.I.D. American Society of Interior Design. In her spare time she enjoyed shopping, traveling, being in the sun, gardening, her cats, and was an avid Michigan State sports fan. But most of all she loved being around her family, friends, and clients. Lyn is survived by her husband Rod McAlvey of St. Joseph; son Jeremy Tollas of Grand Rapids; father Bud Talbot of St. Joseph; brother Tom (Nila) Talbot of St. Joseph; and mother and father in-law Eleanor & Vern Tollas of Baroda. Lyn is now going home to be with her mother Sally Talbot; sister Martha Luttrell and grandmother Viva Brannock.
