Elizabeth R. Schlutt, 94, of Stevensville, MI went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, April 27, 2009 at St John/Bernard Church, 555 Delaware, Benton Harbor, MI with Fr. Bill Jacobs officiating. Visitation with the family will be at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI on Sunday, April 26, 2009 from 3:00 P.M until 7:00 P.M with a rosary recited at 5:00 P.M. Visitation will also be from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. on Monday, April 27, 2009 at the church. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to SS. Elizabeth was born on February 15, 1915 in New York City, New York to Adam & Rosalie (Deri) Oberle. On April 22, 1939 she married Lawrence Schlutt in Watervliet, MI. He preceded her in death on May 22, 1988. Elizabeth was a devoted & loving wife, mother and friend. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening and spending time with family and friends. Faith and family were her priorities. She is survived by her son Louis Schlutt of Stevensville, MI; two daughters Gladys (Robert) Walsh of Beverly Hills, MI and Mary (Richard) Schulte of Brooklyn, MI; four grandchildren Annemarie, Larry, Caryn and Eileen; two great grandchildren; In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two children Lawrence and Rosalie; two sisters Rosemary (Horton) Davis and Teresa Schmuhl; and two brothers Jacob and Louis Oberle.
