Timothy Bernard Lantry, 85, of St. Joseph died Monday March 2, 2009 at his home, with his family. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church officiated by Rev. Msgr. Michael A. Osborn. Burial to follow at North Shore Memory Gardens with military rites held. Memorials may be made to Lake Michigan Catholic School, Hospice at Home or Child and Family Day Services for Seniors. Friends wishing to send their condolence may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Tim was born on September 1, 1923 in Chicago, IL to Thomas and Vivian (Weed) Lantry. He entered the United States Army on February 3, 1943 and he was Honorable Discharged on December 8, 1945. Tim retired from Crown Cork and Seal in 1991 where he was an electrician. He was a devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, VFW 1137 and Electrical workers Local 153. Tim is survived by three sons Timothy (Joanne) Lantry Jr. of Danielson, CT; Thomas (Elizabeth) Lantry of Kennewick WA; James (Michelle) Lantry of Essexville, MI; Carol (Carl) Eldred of St. Cloud FL; Mary Huffman of St, Joseph MI; Laura Strunk of St. Joseph, MI; 12 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. Tim was preceded in death by his wife Catherine (Bodinet) Lantry on August 28, 1998 and a brother Charles Lantry. Tim was a dedicated father, grandfather and great grandfather who enjoyed spending time with family, attending community and LMC School functions, walking his dogs, and his daily visit to Dunkin Donuts. Over the last five years Tim was blessed with care and friendship from Child and Family Day Services for Seniors and in his last weeks Hospice at Home. The family is grateful for their support and care. Tim will be missed and forever loved by all his family and friends.
