Lolita's Obituary

Lolita Vera Piedt, 86, of St. Joseph, went to be with her Lord and savoir Jesus Christ on Saturday March 7, 2009, at the Whitcomb Towers. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Monday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at Napier Parkview Baptist Church officiated by Dr. J.O. Hosler and Pastor Nick Jackson; with burial to follow at Riverview Cemetery Memorials may be made to Napier Parkview Baptist Church or Hospice At Home. Friends wishing to send a condolence may do so at the guest book at www.starks-menchinger.com Lolita was born on August 14, 1922, in Coloma MI, to Lewis and Mildred (Krieger) Umphrey. She married Darrell Piedt on May 30, 1941 in Coloma MI. After graduating From Coloma High School she worked at Remington Rand; also during her life Lolita was the bookkeeper for John E. Piedt & Son’s and volunteered at the Mercy & Memorial Hospital for many years. She was a member of her Napier Parkview Baptist Church, a Sunday school teacher for over 40 years, held various bible studies classes, involved in Christian Women’s Club, Fairplain Garden Club. Lolita was survived by her son Bradley (Paige) Piedt of Benton Harbor, daughter Connie (Rick) Hartwig of Stevensville; two grandchildren Kelsey and Peyton Hartwig; four brothers-Ermine (Peg) Umphrey of Leesburg FL, Boyd (Lilas) Umphrey of Davenport FL, Virgil (Rosie) Umphrey of Davenport FL, Kenneth (Carolyn) Umphrey Sylvania, OH. Preceded in death by her husband Darrell on November 11, 1996
