Herman's Obituary

Herman “Bob” Schultz, 86, of Benton Harbor, passed away Tuesday, November 11th, 2008 at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice at Home. Herman was born on October 14, 1922 in Benton Harbor, Michigan, to Herman and Madge (Cottrel) Schultz. He married Esther Nitz on December 11, 1946 in Millburg, MI. Herman retired after 35 years as a foreman from Whirlpool Corporation. He served during WWII with the First Division of the Marine Corps in the South Pacific and China. He was a long time member of the Benton Harbor VFW #1137 and the Benton Harbor Elks. Herman is survived by his wife Esther; his children Robert (Karen) Schultz of Hartford, Gregory (Kayleen) Schultz of Hartford, Shelly Pratt of Benton Harbor, and Michael Schultz of Benton Harbor; grandchildren, Robin, Delyce, Robert, Gregory, Cheryl, Vincent, Melissa, Adam, Laura and Kenneth; 12 great grandchildren; one brother Fred (Rose) Schultz of Garden Grove, CA; and one sister Dolores (Ben) Gallert of Benton Harbor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Cheryl Hansen.
