Jerry Lee Forker, Sr., 69., of Benton Harbor, MI., passed away Sunday, January 4, 2009, at Lakeland Medical Center in St. Joseph with family and friends by his side.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Oakridge Baptist Church, 766 Oakridge Dr.., St. Joseph, MI. Friends may call from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI. Burial will be held at North Shore Memory Gardns in Coloma, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.
Jerry was born on January 16, 1939 in Bronson Township, MI. Jerry married Delores (Sprague) Forker on January 23, 1958 in Danbury, CT. Jerry worked as a truck driver for 18 years with Schneider Transport, Inc. and 18 years with Michigan Standard Alloys. For the past 10 years he drove for Tidey Farms. He was a member of Teamsters Local 7. Jerry also served the United States of America as a member of the United States Navy.
Jerry is survived by his wife Delores and his five sons, Chuck (Kim) Forker of Benton Harbor, MI; Jerry (Janet) Forker of Benton Harbor, MI; Timothy (Jackie) Forker of Coloma, MI; David (Tina) Forker of St. Joseph, MI; and Todd Forker of Benton Harbor, MI.
Jerry was survived by his 10 grandchildren, Kim Jewell; Amanda Crossman; Kayla Forker; Ryan Forker; Brandon Forker; Timothy Forker, Jr.; Cassandra Forker; Karlee Forker; Andraya Forker and Todd Forker, Jr. and 5 great grandchildren, Zachary; Sidney; Hayden; Arabelle and Jacob. Jerry is also survived by two brothers, Robert (Ronie) Forker of Three Oaks, MI and Jim (Susan) Forker of Bloomingdale, MI and one sister Mary Anne Demorrow of Statesville, S.C.. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Nancy Zeno, and his “adopted” family Brian, Tammy and Alec Ashley.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Forker; his mother, Mary (Blackamor) Forker; three brothers, Max, Jack and Ralph and one sister Bonnie.
