Harry's Obituary

Harry L. Kinsel, 79, of St. Joseph, passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2008, at home after a short illness, with his loving family at his side. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 29, 2008, at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph, Michigan, with Msgr. Michael Osborne of Saint Joseph Catholic Church officiating. Friends are invited to share in cookies and refreshments after the service. Visitation with the family will be from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 28, 2008, with rosary at 4:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Hospice at Home, St. Joseph, MI. Those wishing to send the family a message of condolence may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Harry was born on April 21, 1929, in Wilkes-Barre, PA, to Stanley and Mary (Trumpore) Kinsel. Upon graduating high school in 1946, he enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in December 1947. He attended Cleary Business College after discharge from the army and was a mail carrier for the U.S. Post Office for five years. In 1953 in joined AAA of Michigan and retired in 1986 after 33 years of service. After retirement, he worked for Crawford & Company as a claims adjuster and subsequently was self employed as a licensed private investigator. He was a member of Rotary Club of St. Joseph, Elks Lodge 541, and Stevensville American Legion. Harry enjoyed fishing, golfing, traveling, playing cards with his many friends, and spending time with family. He was loved for his kindness and great sense of humor. Harry is survived by his wife of 12 years, Carole (Brouffle) Kinsel, his loving twin daughters Janet (Sam) Tobian of Indianapolis, IN, and Jane ( Mark) Huebner of Stevensville, MI; step-daughter Debra (Larry) Barrows, Gregory DeVilbiss, and Kimberly (James) Collier; his grandchildren Jenna (Russell) Drake, Ryan Huebner, and Bryan Tobian; 7 step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren Grant, Carter, Kali and Kira Drake; sisters Helen Haeussler, Regina (Daniel) Odegard, Loretta (Robert) Scarbrough, Rosemarie (Chris) Mason; brother Leo (Donna) Kinsel; 5 nieces, 5 nephews, 5 grand nieces and 5 grand nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife JoAnn (Fors) Kinsel; brother Stanley Kinsel; sisters Mae Marie Kinsel and Frances Kinsel; and his parents.
