Mary E. Spink

Mary E. “Pepper” Spink, 59, of Benton Harbor, passed away Friday, December 12, 2008 at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:30 A.M. Tuesday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, St. Joseph with Rev. Wayne Bell officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Friends may call from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Moose Rites will be held at 7:30 P.M. Monday. Memorials may be made to Moose Heart or Hospice at Home. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guestbook online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Mary was born May 2, 1949 in Sioux City, Iowa to Carl L. & Geraldine Mae (Spaulding) Frazier. On August 26, 1989 she married William “Mo” Spink in Benton Harbor. Mary enjoyed working. She was employed at several area businesses over the years including United Container, Mike Young Surplus, The Establishment, and Louie’s Bar & Grill. Her love of Dr. Pepper earned her the nickname “Pepper”. In her spare time, Mary enjoyed video games, garage sales, collecting turtles, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of the Women’s Order of the Moose #405. Pepper is survived by her husband William “Mo” Spink; her children-Edward Carl (Melody Reth) Cottrell of Coloma, Tommy Jay (Agatha) Cottrell of Battle Creek, Amanda Kay Spink of Kalamazoo; six grandchildren-Kendall, Sally, & Naomi Cottrell, Victoria Easley, Zachary Reth, & Madilyn Cottrell; three brothers-Danny, Steve, & Donald Frazier-all of Texas; her sister-in-law Jane Cottrell of Amboy, IN; her aunt Virginia Smith of Baroda; and her best friend Wanda Burnett of Benton Harbor. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers-Robert Cole & Curtis Frazier, and her sister Kathy Benson.
