Rosemary Ann Horton Davis, 78, of Edwardsburg, formerly of Benton Harbor, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2008 at her home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Monday at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 555 E. Delaware, Benton Harbor, with Fr. William Jacobs, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Benton Harbor. Friends may call from 2:00 until 5:00 P.M. Sunday, with the Rosary recited at 4:30 P.M., at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to Lakeland Hospice. Rosemary was born December 22, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois to Adam & Rosalie (Dery) Oberle. She graduated from St. John’s High School in 1949. On November 25, 1950, she married Earl R. Horton in Benton Harbor. He preceded her in death on July 22, 1986. On February 14, 1998, she married Harley P. Davis in Niles. Rosemary was employed at V-M corporation, and later, for many years at Gillespie Drug Store tending the soda fountain, both in Benton Harbor. Most of all, she enjoyed being a homemaker and tending to her family. She was a wonderful cook. In her spare time, she enjoyed dancing and music. Rosemary was a former member of St. John-St. Bernard Parish, currently belonging to St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Niles.
Rosemary is survived by her husband Harley; her children-Richard (Arlene) Horton of Vicksburg, MI, Raymond (Janet) Horton of Benton Harbor, David Horton of Florida, Larry (Conni) Davis of Niles, Valerie (Greg) Cayba of Roseland, IN; grandchildren-Stefan, John, Alexander, Adam, Lindsey, Brittney, Brian, & Katelin Horton, Jonathon & Helen Davis, & Stephanie & Matthew Heiermann; her sister Betty Schlutt of Stevensville; and numerous Nieces & Nephews; and a dear friend Patti (Dan) Martin of Aurora, CO whom attended to her side during her last few weeks of life. She was, in addition to her first husband, preceded in death by her parents, a son Earl Horton, Jr., two brothers-Louis & Jacob Oberle, and a sister Teresa Schmuhl.
