Helen's Obituary
Helen M. Parmeter, 93, of Bridgman, formerly of Benton Harbor, passed away, Monday, November 24, 2008 at Jordan’s Nursing Home in Bridgman.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:30 A.M. Monday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Dowagiac. Friends may call beginning at 10:30 A.M. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Stevensville American Legion Post #568. Helen was born June 26, 1915 in St. Joseph to Henry & Caroline (Kasischke) Kettlehut. She was raised on Lake St. overlooking Silver Beach. On May 14, 1934, Helen married Duane F. Parmeter in St. Joseph. She was employed as personnel manager at Woolworth’s Department Store in the Fairplain Plaza, retiring in 1975. Helen was a member of Stevensville American Legion Auxillary. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing cards, and reminiscing about her days at Silver Beach and dancing at Shadowland Ballroom.
Helen is survived by her daughter Debbie Sellers of Salem, OR; two grandsons-Richard (Michelle) Sellers of Jackson, TN, Doug Sellers of Salem, OR; one great-grandson Austin Sellers; and a brother Henry “Hank” Kettlehut of Naples, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband Duane on November 21, 2001, and by six brothers & sisters.
