Joseph's Obituary

Joseph James Krejci, 86, of Stevensville, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 27, 2008. He was born on September 25th, 1922 in Berwyn, Illinois to Joseph and Elizabeth (Petrick) Krejci. Joseph moved to a Stevensville farm where the present soccer fields and picnic area now stand at the corner of Cleveland Ave. and Rocky Weed Rd. Joseph graduated from Stevensville High School in 1940 as salutatorian of his class. He served in the Army in World War II. He worked for Industrial Rubber for 12 years and went on to Whirlpool where he retired in 1985 with 30 years of service. He married the former Eleanor Jeschke on October 15, 1955 in St. Joseph, Michigan. They were blessed with two sons, Joseph (Darla) Krejci of Joliet, Illinois and James (Sharon) Krejci of Stevensville. Joseph enjoyed working on his farm and working on his cars. He was a member of the Stevensville American Legion for 59 years, Czech Beseda Club, Southwestern Michigan Car Club, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stevensville and a life member of F.O.P. #96 of St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 2673 W. John Beers Rd., Stevensville. Burial will follow at Lincoln Township Cemetery with military rites given by the Stevensville American Legion. Friends may call from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice at Home or St. Paul’s Lutheran. Surviving are his wife, two sons and daughter-in-laws along with his five loving grandchildren James Krejci, Jr. stationed with the Marine Corps in North Carolina; Allyson Krejci of Stevensville, MI; Ryne Krejci of Joliet, IL.; Jack Krejci of Joliet, IL and Ashley Sutcliffe of Stevensville, MI.. He also leaves his beloved dog Hermie. Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister.
