Sharon Arent

Sharon Arent, 64, of Bridgman, passed away after a lengthy illness on Sunday, December 28, 2008 at Jordans Nursing Home, Bridgman. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd; St. Joseph, MI with Rev Thom Christie and Rev. Mark Diefenbach of New Apostolic Church, St. Joseph officiating. A private burial at Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph is scheduled at a later date. Friends may call from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made out to Jordans Activities Department or Multiple Sclerosis Society. Those wishing to send the family a message of condolence may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Sharon was born on May 5, 1944 to John and Betty (Scherer) Arent in National City, CA. After being diagnosed with a sudden case of Multiple Sclerosis at age 17, she was a long time resident at Jordans nursing home since 1976. She loved to play cards with her friends. She will be missed by all the wonderful friends at Jordans who lovingly cared for Sharon for 32 years as well as her church family. She was a loving, gentle person and when she became ill, she never complained throughout her 48 years of illness. Sharon maintained a positive attitude and that’s why everybody loved her. Sharon is survived by her loving mother, Betty (Scherer) Arent of Bridgman; brother, Dan Arent and partner, Patrick Ohearn of Milwaukee, WI; dear friend, Sue (Stark) Turner of Bainbridge Twp; cousins, Joyce (Ralph) Barras of New Iberia, LA, Beth (Rich) Renken of Dayton, OH, Penney (Ken) Wilson of Watervliet; nieces, Heather (Joe) Arent-Zachary and great grand nephew, Friederich Arent-Zachary; all from Seattle,WA; Holly Arent of Milwaukee, WI; Uncle Gerald Southland of St. Joseph; and all her many friends she has touched. She is preceded in death by her father, John Arent who passed away in 1992.
