Don's Obituary

Donald “Don” L. Demorrow, 81, of St. Joseph, died at his home, peacefully, with his family at his side on Sunday, November 02, 2008. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, November 6, 2008 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 619 Market St., St. Joseph, MI with Pastor Thomas Batsky officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, November 5th from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M at Starks and Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Hospice at Home or Berrien County Cancer Service. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Don was born on October 20, 1927 to William C. and Ethyl Demorrow in Muskegon, Michigan. He came to the aid of his country in WWII in the U.S. Navy. Don married the love of his life, Iris J. Meyer, on July 6, 1984 in St. Joseph, MI. Donald was a parts inspector at Whirl Pool Corporation for 44 years before retiring and becoming part of the Old Timers. Don was an avid fisherman and he was known to spend every day on the pier with his friends. He was a hard worker and known as the Rosemary Beach handyman. His family will all miss him dearly. Donald is survived by his wife, Iris; children, Randy Demorrow of California, Jackie Stahl, Tammy M. Strauss of Coloma, Katherine J. Zimmerle, David A. Werner both of St. Joseph; a brother, Bill Demorrow of Florida and Joann Holloway of Buchanan, MI; and many grandchildren and great grand children; several nieces and nephews and a family of “fishing friends”. He is preceded in death by his parents and his children, Donald Jr. and Greg Demorrow.
