Keith's Obituary

Keith Alan Eberhardt, 48, of Watervliet & St. Joseph, passed away, Sunday, October 5, 2008 at his home in Watervliet as the result of an accident. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday at Peace Lutheran Church, 3590 Lincoln Ave., St. Joseph, with Rev. Paul A. Koehneke officiating. Burial will follow at Millburg Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00 until 6:00 P.M. Sunday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph and from 9:00 until 10:00 A.M. Monday at the church prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Peace Lutheran Church or Lory’s Place. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Keith was born July 24, 1960 in Benton Harbor to Ade & Shirley (Mensinger) Eberhardt. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1979 and from Ivy Tech in South Bend, in 1982. On October 14, 1995, Keith married the former Monica Naines in St. Joseph. Keith was a member of South Bend Local #292 Ironworkers Union, and for the last seven years had been employed by Pearson Construction in Benton Harbor. Keith loved his work; there was nothing that he couldn’t design and build. He had participated in baseball and golden glove boxing in his earlier years. Keith coached little league baseball for the St. Joseph Baseball Association while his son played in the league. He cherished the time spent with his son Keith. He was an avid sports fan, especially interested in baseball and football. In his spare time, Keith enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, and grilling. Keith is survived by his wife Monica; children-Keith Eberhardt and Nicole McCandless; his mother and step-father Shirley & Charles Grabowski of Benton Harbor; his brother Kevin Eberhardt of Benton Harbor; his maternal grandmother Ruth Milnickel of Benton Harbor; his mother-in-law & father-in-law-AngelaJo & Joseph Naines of St. Joseph; and a large extended family and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his father Ade Eberhardt in 2003.
