Hetty J. Weidler

Hetty J. Weidler, 81, of St. Joseph, went to meet her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, August 24, 2008 at Caretel Inns of Lakeland in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 A.M. Friday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Friends may call from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Mrs. Weidler was born October 11, 1926 in Reynoldsburg, Ohio to Nelson & Eunice (Evans) McCray. She graduated from Tarkio College in Tarkio, Missouri. Hetty taught school in Dawson, Nebraska before moving to the Twin Cities Area, where she taught for a time in the Coloma Schools. She was best known for the fact that she taught piano for over twenty-five years, from her home in Fairplain. She had a passion for music. There are many people in the area that now play piano because of Hetty’s patient way of teaching. She was a member of Monday Musical Club of Benton Harbor/St. Joseph, and Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ in St. Joseph. Hetty enjoyed playing the piano at The Willows, and in her spare time enjoyed playing Scrabble, and doing Crossword & Jigsaw puzzles. Hetty is survived by four sons-Gregory (Merle Jaffe) Weidler of Zug, Switzerland, Bruce (Loretta) Weidler of St. Joseph, Rodney Weidler of Eau Claire, MI, Grant Susan Weidler of Houston, TX; seven grandchildren; her sister Sue Miles of New York City; her former daughter-in-law Christine Weidler of Stevensville; and her close friend Joan petrie of St. Joseph. She was preceded in death by her parents, and by two brothers-Theodore & Robert McCray.
