During and after the war she lived in the tiny hamlet of Trebel with her three children. In 1951, Lisa and her husband Ulrich brought their children to live in the United States. They first arrived in New Orleans and settled in Georgia. Within a year they moved from Georgia to Benton Harbor, Michigan. Soon a single mother, Lisa raised her children on Maple Street in Benton Harbor for many years, before moving out to the bluffs of Lake Michigan north of St. Joseph. During these years her strong personality, her quest to do her best, and her ability to take a calculated risk provided many adventures and advantages that the family is now very proud of. She worked for Whirlpool Corporation for more than twenty years, starting in the steno-pool and finishing her career as secretary to the treasurer. Her ability to surface to the top of her potential was evidenced throughout her career. After her “retirement” in l977 Lisa moved To Wiesbaden, Germany where she worked for several years more for Clark Equipment -Europe. Upon her return to the United States, she took up traveling, writing, painting, volunteer work and gardening. Lisa is also the author of the book ‘German for Children’. She was also a longtime member of the German club DANK. She was married to Roland Stahl who preceded her in death in 2001. Her strong character, work ethic, generosity, common-sense wisdom, love, and good-old-German stubbornness have left her family a strong legacy to be proud of and take example from. Her family and friends love her and miss her. Her sons, Bernd (Linda) Lieberg, Olaf (Elaine) Lieberg, her daughter, Gina (Bill) Keough, nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, sister Ursula Jungjohann in Germany and daughter-in-law Sylvia Lieberg survive her.
