Kenneth's Obituary

Kenneth A. Berry Sr., 89, of Benton Harbor, passed away Monday, August 11, 2008, at Sunset Shores Assisted Living. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:30 A.M. Friday August 15, 2008 at Peace Lutheran Church, 3590 Lincoln Ave. in St. Joseph with Pastor Franz Brandenburg officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens with military honors. Friends may call from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday August 14, 2008 at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Mr. Berry was born November 5, 1918 in Tuston, Michigan to Allen & Etta (Davis) Berry. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School. On December 10, 1944 he married Roma Palma in Benton Harbor. Kenneth worked for the Department of Sanitation in Benton Township for 15 years before his retirement. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing, hunting, and reading. Mr. Berry is survived by his son Kenneth (Barbara) Berry Jr. of Benton Harbor; three grandchildren Michael (Dee) Berry of St. Joseph, Kimberly (Giuseppe) Macerata of Berrien Springs, and Melissa (John) Leroy of Belleville; one great grandchild Ryland Leroy; two brothers-in-law Edward (Eleanor) Palma of Benton Harbor, and Ralph (Chris) Palma of St. Joseph; also many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Roma Berry; two brothers Raymond Berry and Benjamin Berry; and one sister Dolly Berry.
