Walter's Obituary
Walter George Fisher, 87, of St. Joseph, went to be with his Lord and Savior and to be reunited with his parents, family, and friends, with his family at his side, on Sunday evening, July 27, 2008, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 10:00 A. M., Thursday, July 31, 2008, at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Garden in Coloma. Visitation with his family will be from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M., Wednesday evening, at the funeral home. Walter was born March 9, 1921, in Chicago. He was the son of Derk & Anna Fisher. Walter proudly served his country during WWII for three years in the 88th Division stationed in Italy. He was proud of his patriotism and his service to his country. On June 28, 1947, he married Lois Miesch in Muskegon, MI. Together they have one daughter, Kay. Walter worked as a Manager at Whirlpool Corporation for over 29 years prior to his retirement in 1979. In his leisure time, he enjoyed outdoor sports including, boating, hunting, and fishing. He also loved to travel. Walter was an avid Notre Dame fan. He was a season ticket holder for more than 50 years, enjoying football & basketball. Most of all, Walter cherished his family and time spent with them.
Walter is survived by his wife, Lois of 61 years; daughter, Kay (Robert) Koern of St. Joseph; granddaughter, Holly Ann (John-Paul) LaPorte of Farmington Hills, MI; great-granddaughter, Isabelle Grace; and by his brother, Robert Fisher of Muskegon, MI; and by several nieces and nephews including special nephew, Richard Borgula.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Eleanor Borgula.
