Dorothy G. Tyler

Dorothy (Grace) Tyler, 87, of St. Joseph, Michigan, passed away on July 1, 2008 at The Whitcomb Tower in St. Joseph. There will be a Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Dorothy will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at The Whitcomb Tower, 509 Ship St; St. Joseph, MI. Per her wishes there will be no visitation. Upon request, cremation will take place. Burial of her ashes will be in North Shore Memory Gardens, Hagar Shores. Memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, 3003 Leco Ct; St. Joseph, MI. 49085 or Whitcomb Residents Fund, 509 Ship St; St. Joseph, MI 49085. Friends wishing to send condolences may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Mrs. Tyler was born February 23, 1921 in Lunsford, Arkansas, a long time resident of St. Joseph. She was employed at Brandsford Manufacturing Co. in St. Joseph, making duffle bags for World War II, 1941-1944. In 1945, she was employed at Standard Parachute Company, San Diego, California, making parachutes for the Army. She was employed at Heath Company, St. Joseph for 20 years, retiring in 1974. After retirement she moved to Tempe, Arizona and was employed with ITT Coror Manufacturing Company for 5 years. After 26 years in Arizona, she returned back to St. Joseph at Whitcomb Tower, 509 Ship Street. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Lloyd E. Gabriel, daughter, Linda L. Gabriel; one brother; three sisters; and her second husband, Gerald L. Tyler.
