James's Obituary
James A. Anderson, 73, of St. Joseph, raised in Lansing, MI passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2008 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at 5:00 PM at Starks & Menchinger Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd; St. Joseph, MI. A Visitation with the family will be from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM prior to the service. Pastor Mark Cowell from Midway Baptist Church in Watervliet will officiate. Memorials may be made to the family. James was born on March 28, 1935 to Allan and Catherine (Connoy) Anderson in St. Cloud, MN. James was raised in Lansing MI for most of his life. He graduated from Eastern High School in Lansing. James served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1955-57. He married Joanne (Ewing) in Canton, OH on September 27, 1958. Together, they raised children, Tammy, Terrie and Jeff. He retired as a co-manager of Jansen Inc. in Benton Harbor in 2000. He was a man who wore many hats and was quite the handyman. James loved to watch horse racing at Arlington, bowling and wrestling. He loved to be in his yard and particularly looked forward to decorating his yard for the holidays.
James is survived by his wife of 49 years, Joanne; his children, Tammy (Tim) Meyer of Howard City, MI, Terrie (Scott) Ruel of Coloma, MI, Jeff Anderson (Victoria) of Benton Harbor, MI; his brother, Gene (Annice) Anderson of Sautee Nacoochee, GA, Sharon (Dick) Cummings of Bath, MI; three grandsons, many nieces and nephews as well as many “special friends”.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
