Lillian's Obituary
Lillian H. Hallman, 92, of Benton Harbor, formerly of St. Joseph, passed away peacefully on Saturday afternoon, May 25, 2008, in her home.
A Celebration of Eternal Life Service will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at 2:00 P.M., at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph, with Rev. Martin Weigand officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Garden in Coloma. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, May 28, from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M., just prior to the service, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to either Hospice at Home or to St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Benton Harbor
Lillian was born on February 22, 1916, in Wales, North Dakota. She was one of eleven children born to Carl and Minnie Zotsman. In October, 1938, Lillian married Donald E. Hallman in South Bend, Indiana. Together they had two children Donald, Jr. and Diane. Lillian was at one time active in Girl Scouts. She loved her family and particularly enjoyed
her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lillian loved visiting and entertaining her family and friends and her “door was always open.” She loved adventure and enjoyed flying with her husband and snowmobiling. Lillian enjoyed her crafts and yoga as well as working in and caring for her rose garden. She also enjoyed watching and feeding finches from her bird feeder.
Lillian is survived by her children, Donald, Jr. (Susan) of Punta Gorda, Florida and Diane (Duane) Bomke of Benton Harbor; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and by her brother, Walter Zotsman of St. Joseph.
In addition to her parents, Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Hallman and by nine brothers and sisters.
