Carol Jean Hicks

Carol Jean Hicks, 54, of Sodus, went home to her Lord and Savior after her battle with Cancer on Saturday, August 09, 2008 at Lakeland Continuing Care, Berrien Center . A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Starks and Menchinger Family Funeral Home with Minister Charlie McGee officiating. Visitation with the family will be on Monday, August 11, 2008 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Starks and Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd; St. Joseph, MI. Burial will follow at Shanghai Cemetery, Eau Claire. Donations may be made to American Cancer Society or Hospice at Home. Those wishing to send a condolence message online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com Carol Jean (Lee) Hicks was born on August 24, 1953 to Andrew and Ruby (Hardin) Lee in Watervliet, MI . She was one of five children. Carol received her massage therapy certificate from Kalamazoo College. She was the owner of A Healing Time in Sodus. She married Russell Hicks. She loved Renaissance fairs and was proud of her Native American heritage. She loved to volunteer massages to Cancer Patients even as she was going through her own therapy. Carol organized a “Cancer Dance” at the DANK this past February. She was a proud member of the ABMP and MMTA organizations. She will be dearly missed by her family and everyone with whom she had the pleasure of doing business. She is survived by her loving husband, Russell; her children, Justin (Dana) Hicks of Niles, Josh Hicks of Sodus; brothers and sisters, Andrew (Jinny) Lee of South Carolina, Thelbert (Nancy) Lee of Berrien Springs and Betty (John) Diller of Buchanan, MI; her close friend, Rosie Meister of Watervliet; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Ruby, and her brother Tommie Lee in 2006.
