Alan Michael Gaipa, 27, of Kalamazoo, formerly of St. Joseph, went home to his Lord Jesus Christ, on May 10, 2008, at his home in Kalamazoo, surrounded by his loving family. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 Church Street, St. Joseph, with Msgr. Michael Osborn officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Bluff Cemetery in Stevensville. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 to 8:00 Tuesday evening, May 13, at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to this family. He was one of two sons born to Tim and Ruth Gaipa. Alan worked with his father in home construction. He enjoyed flying, fishing, and working on his antique vehicles. He loved music and was particularly talented with his guitar. Alan will be remembered as the “sweetest person who was loved by all.” He was also known as a “shy and lovable” person with a witty sense of humor. He loved his family and was adored by his nieces. Alan is survived by his parents, Tim and Ruth Gaipa of St. Joseph; brother, Joseph (Megan Lynn) Gaipa of St. Joseph; fiance, Mykel Kruger of Kalamazoo; nieces, Allie and Brooke Gaipa; grand parents, William & Dolores Frantz and Joseph Gaipa, Jr.; aunts and uncles, Brad (Gladys) Ullig, Dave (Barb) Baron, Ron (Vicki) Marschke, and Bill (Linda) Frantz; and by his many family and friends. Alan was preceded in death by his grandmother, Gladys Gaipa.
