Alberta's Obituary

Alberta (Chamberlain) Randles, 76, of Benton Harbor, passed away on Tuesday April 29, 2008 at her home. A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00P.M., Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at Highland Avenue Seventh – Day Adventist Church, 2075 Highland, Benton Harbor with the Pastor Donald Bedney, II officiating. Burial will resume on Thursday, May 8, at Fort Custer Cemetery in Augusta, MI at 11:00A.M. Friends may call from 6:00P.M. until 8:00P.M. Tuesday May 6, at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to Highland Adventist Church Community Service. Mrs. Randles was born October 9, 1931 in Tiptonville, Tennessee to Raymond Chamberlain & Fannie Mae (Clark) Davis. She was raised by her step-father, Booker T. Washington Davis. She graduated from Union High School in Dowagiac, MI. Alberta was united in holy matrimony to Earl G. Randles on March 28, 1959, in Dowagiac, MI and shared 49 years together. She retired from the Benton Harbor Area School district after 30 years of service as a Paraprofessional. She gave service to the following schools: Martindale Elementary School, Hull School and finally Boynton Montessori Magnet School. Alberta was a member of Highland Avenue Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was an avid reader and bible scholar. She was actively involved in prison ministry, community service, women’s ministries and bible studies. Mrs. Randles is survived by her husband, Earl G. Randles, five children Elizabeth (Patrick) Randles-Lawrence of Blakeslee, PA, Timothy Randles of Lansing, MI, Peter (Velvet) Randles of Radcliff, KY, Monique Randles-Partlow of Harker Height, TX, Jason (Antonette) Randles of Memphis, TN; seven brothers and sisters Roy (Juanita) Chamberlain of Junction City, KS, Joe (Suzanne) Davis of Kalamazoo, MI, Opal (Joe) Allen of San Diego, CA, Vernon (Auga) Davis of Kalamazoo, MI, Danny (Hilda) Davis of Lansing, MI, Janet Burney Fort Lauderdale, FL, John Davis of Kalamazoo, MI; eighteen grandchildren, one great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Fannie Mae Davis and Raymond Chamberlain, stepfather Booker T. Washington Davis and one brother Lawrence Davis.
