Shemika Marie Young

Shemika Marie Young, 29, of Benton Harbor, passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at her home. A Service of Home Going will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday at Refreshing Fountain Church of God in Christ, 175 S. Euclid Ave., Benton Harbor. Burial will follow at Crystal Springs Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service beginning at 9:00 A.M. Memorials may be made to the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, St. Joseph. Shemika attended Benton Harbor High School. She loved her family and they loved her. She devoted herself to her four sons, and her mother, who was her best friend. Shemika enjoyed playing games with her children and dancing. Shemika is survived by her mother Rose Young and her mother’s companion Sam Johnson both of Benton Harbor; her father Johnnie Smith of Mississippi; her four sons-Anthony Walker, Darrius Shelby, Kamarrion Jones, Quwang-tri Jones all at home; two brothers-Demetruis Williams & Robert Vance, both of Benton Harbor; four uncles-Roy Young, Anthony Young, Timothy Young, K.G. Young, all of Benton Harbor; her nephew Demetron Glad of Benton Harbor; maternal grandmother Rosie L. Young of Benton Harbor; her paternal grandmother Geneva Clay of Mississippi ; and a host of cousins, great aunts & great uncles.
