Erna's Obituary
Erna Sing, 90, of St. Joseph, went home to be with her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, March 28, 2008 at her home.
A Celebration of Life Eternal will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at the First Church of God, 2627 Niles Ave., St. Joseph with Rev. Robert Confer officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph. Friends may call from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Monday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Erna was born in Chicago, IL on March 13, 1918 to Emil & Marie (Siebalt) Wokeck. On April 8, 1939, she married Adam Sing of Joliet, IL in Chicago. She was a life long member of First Church of God where she served in various ways throughout the years. She especially enjoyed teaching Sunday School and working with small children. Erna was a teacher for several years at the beginning of First Church of God Nursery School. She was an active member of the Women of the Church of God, where she served on the funeral dinner committee and as Historian for many years.
Erna had just celebrated her 90th birthday, at home, with visits from over 50 family members & friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew & loved her.
Erna was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She is survived by her children-Ted (Julie) Sing of Michigan City, IN, Margo (Rilene) Sing of San Jose, CA, Larry (Kim) Sing of Mattawan, Richard (Cindy) Sing of St. Joseph, David (Bonnie) Sing of Sodus; twelve grandchildren-Terry, James, Marc, Jeff, Carrie, Amy, Ron, Rebecca, Jeremy, Rachel, David & Nicole; twenty-one great grandchildren; her brother Glenn (Beverly) Wokeck of Bangor; and by many nieces & nephews & extended family members. Erna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Adam in 1979, and her brother Kenneth Wokeck in 1994.
