Arla's Obituary
Arla Lorraine Rose, 87, of Watervliet, an honest, caring and giving woman went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 07, 2008.
Arla was a devoted wife of 65 years to George Rose; a loving mother to G. Parris Rose and Craig Rose. She was born on February 27, 1920 to Guy Shindeldecker and Nada (Versaw) Shindeldecker. Arla was an antique dealer and appraiser for Colonial Barn Antiques of which she was the owner for 50 years. In addition to her business, she raised a loving family. Arla loved The Lord and she enjoyed fellowship with others. She enjoyed traveling and collecting antiquities such as dolls, dishes, and bears from all over the East and Midwest. Arla was a perfectionist with a great attention to detail and her family would attest she had excellent penmanship as her work in Calligraphy would show. She was very modest and selfless, and gave Christmas baskets to the under-privileged in the community. Her family and friends would describe her as being very modest, honest, compassionate, and especially reliable to others in need. She was never one to turn down anyone who needed her help.
A Celebration of her life service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, February 11, 2008 at First Church of Nazarene, 3351 Niles Rd; St. Joseph, MI 49085 with Rev. J. Dean Pickett officiating. Burial will follow at Crystal Springs Cemetery, Benton Harbor. A time for food and fellowship will follow at the church after internment. Friends may call from 5:00 – 8:00 PM Sunday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, in St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to the First Church of Nazarene.
