Dorcas Ailene Chervenak

Dorcas A. Chervenak, 82, of Stevensville, passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2008, at Lakeland Medical Center, St. Joseph. According to the family’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Berrien County Cancer Service or to Hospice at Home. Dorcas was born on April 23, 1925, in Danville, Kentucky, to Dennis and Maude (Lewis) Nelson. She married John Chervenak on March 16, 1953, in Detroit, Michigan. He preceded her in death in 2005. Dorcas worked for the Budd Wheel Company in Detroit, retiring in 1959. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and her pet bird. Dorcas enjoying crocheting and going to garage sales. She is survived by a son, George (Lobby) Chervenak in Mt. Clemens, MI, and by a daughter, Susan (Mike) Desmet in Stevensville, MI; four grandchildren, Michael (Laura) Chervenak, Shawn Chervenak, Molly Jo Desmet, and Emily Sue Desmet; two great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Chervenak and Zachary Chervenak. In addition to her parents and husband, Dorcas was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Nelson and Theran Nelson; and by a sister, Doreen Gardner.
