Thelma Marie Lauderbaugh

Thelma's Obituary

Thelma Marie Lauderbaugh was born in Moose Lake, Minnesota. She was a long time resident of Ann Arbor and passed away in March while wintering in Tucson, Arizona. Thelma was a true lifelong learner with a PhD in Biochemistry and an MBA, both from the University of Michigan. She enjoyed a long career at General Motors and shared her passion for education by teaching at the college level after her retirement. Thelma was an active volunteer in the community, working with Friends of Matthai Botanical Gardens, American Heart Association of University Women, OSHER Life Long Learning, the American Heart Association and Friends of Livingston County. She loved to travel and had season tickets to the Fisher Theater and the University Musical Society Choral Union Series for several years. Thelma is survived by her son Ken, grandsons Tony and Peter, great grandchildren Cailey and Braydon and cousins Kathryn Peirce and Jan Zebell of St. Joseph. A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 3rd at 9:30 am in the Chapel Montieth Hall of the First Presbyterian Church, 1432 Washtenaw Ave., Ann Arbor. Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Children’s Alliance (www.nca-online.org) or Matthai Botanical Gardens.
