Lenore M. De La Foret

Lenore M. De La Foret, 90, of Stevensville, passed away with her loving family at her side on Sunday, January 27, 2008. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at Lakeshore Christian Church, 5565 Washington Ave, St. Joseph, MI with Rev. Walter McCutcheon officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00-11:00 A.M. at the church. Per her wishes, she will have her body donated to the University of Toledo for study. Lenore was born on March 29, 1917 in Toledo, OH to Joseph and Laura (La Plante) Sturtz. One of her biggest accomplishments was graduating from University of Toledo in 1939. She earned a Baccalaureate degree in Business Administration at a time when it was rare for women to go to college. After graduating, she started a family with her loving husband Norman De La Foret in 1941. She moved to Stevensville to raise a family. Lenore led an active lifestyle swimming three times a week. In fact, Lenore was the oldest member of the South Shore Health Club She was also an avid reader and owned over 5000 books. She was a talented writer, as well. In her spare time, Lenore loved to play Canasta. She enjoyed spending time with her family and had a great sense of humor. Lenore is survived by her children, Anne (Tim) Jones of Ionia, MI; Gene (Diana) De la foret of St. Joseph, Paul (Suzanne) De la foret of Owosso, Hugh (Henrietta) De la foret of Hagar Shores, and Lewis (Jan) De la foret of England; her brother, Thomas (Ruth) Sturtz of Florida; and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Norman in December 9, 1986; and 2 sisters and 4 brothers.
