Stewart D. Mciver

Stewart “Stuie” Duane McIver, 73 of St. Joseph, formerly of Battle Creek, died at his home on Tuesday January 1, 2008. Stuie was born on July 5, 1934 in Battle Creek Michigan to Russell and Hazel (Dracuass) McIver. He was a graduate of Battle Creek Lakeview High School and played on the Undefeated State champion Football team of 1951 and named to the All City Team. He was always very proud of what his teammates accomplished and took part in of all of the team’s reunions. He worked at IPC in the printing department until his retirement in 2005. Family was everything to him. He moved to St. Joseph 10 years ago so he could be near his children and grandchildren. Stu made friends wherever he went and loved living by Lake Michigan. He volunteered at the BH Soup Kitchen and Senior Center. He will be greatly missed by all of those who knew him. Stuie is survived by two sons Jeff (Kathy) McIver of Norman, OK, Jon (Julie) McIver of Stevensville, MI and a daughter Julie (Russ) Passmore of Homer, MI; seven grandchildren – Jason, Justin, Ryan, Jamie, Evan, Mollie and Casey; and one great grandchild, Landon. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to The Benton Harbor Soup Kitchen.
