Mabel's Obituary

Mabel T. Godush, 94, formerly of St. Joseph, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2007 at Jordan’s Nursing Home in Bridgman. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Rev. Terry Tessari officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to The Salvation Army. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Mrs. Godush was born August 25, 1913 in St. Joseph to George & Anna (Dunse) Beckman. On October 1, 1932, she married John Godush in South Bend, Indiana. Mabel was a wife and loving mother to nine children. She was a member of St. Peter’s Church. In her spare time, Mabel enjoyed feeding & watching birds and tending to her house plants. Mrs. Godush is survived by her children-John (Jeanine) Godush of Stevensville, Anna Mae Yeager of Lehigh Acres, FL, James (Mary) Godush of Ada, AR, Lewis (Donna) Godush of Bridgman, George (Judy) Godush of Stevensville, Martha (George) Kavanaugh of Benton Harbor, Jerry Godush of Stevensville, David Godush of New Troy, & Randy (Sue) Godush of Naples, FL; twenty grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren; her brother George Beckman of St. Joseph, two sisters-Gladys Hill & Florence (William) Hill, both of St. Joseph; and a sister-in-law-Leatrice Beckman of St. Joseph. Mrs. Godush was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John Godush, Sr. on June 27, 1984, by two grandchildren-Chris & Christina Godush, by her sister Margaret Pullins, and by four brothers-Harry, Robert, Martin & Louie Beckman.
