Marian's Obituary
Marian Tober, 79, of Benton Harbor, passed away Sunday, December 23, 2007 at Orchard Grove Extended Care Centre.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday at Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ, 3001 Veronica Dr., St. Joseph. Burial will follow in Millburg Cemetery. Friends may call from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Thursday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kalamazoo or Alzheimer’s Association. Mrs. Tober was born August 20, 1928 in Chicago to Albert & Marie (Kaasmann) Birr. She graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1946. On July 5, 1946, she married Harold Tober in Atlanta, Georgia. Marian was a member of Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ in St. Joseph and was a former choir member. She attended the Hartford United Methodist Church for the time she lived in that area. Marian was also a member of the Misfits in St. Joseph and the Pink Slipper Club of which she was a past-president. While she lived in Wyoming, she drove the bus for the Glenrock Senior Center. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, ceramics, horses, playing the piano, and sewing. She made many beautiful wedding gowns for her family & friends.
Mrs. Tober is survived by her children-Kerry (Carol) Tober of Lakewood, CA, Kathy (Larry) Pierquet of Coleman, WI, Cindy (Randy) Howard of Lawrence, MI, Leatha (Michael) Snider of Lakewood, CA, daughter-in-law Donna Tober of Benton Harbor; fifteen grandchildren-Melanie, Donny, Amy, Aaron, Anna, Abby, Kaitlyn, Mercedes, Celeste, Jamie, Allison, Amanda, Alexis, Daniel, & Alyssa; eight great-grandchildren; and three sisters-Esther (Jack) Charleston of Stevensville, Charlotte (Dave) Evans of Berrien Springs, & Crystal (Ron) Norton of Holland, MI. Marian was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harold on December 6, 1984, her son David Tober on September 7, 2003, and a great-grandson.
