Burch's Obituary

Burch H. Springer, Jr. died peacefully on December 30, 2007 after a brief illness and went into the arms of his Lord. He was at home with his children and gentle hospice care. He joins his wife Beatrice Ann, his father, mother, stepmother, aunts, uncles, cousins and many of his friends. Burch was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 12, 1925 to Agnes and Burch Springer, Sr. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was stationed in the Philippines. Burch married Beatrice Ann Barbour on October 4, 1952 in Lima, Ohio. He was a Sales Representative for IBM for 30 years; however, retirement did not stop him from hard work. Burch was a proud and welcomed member of the Baroda American Legion Post. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge for 57 years, and a very active Shriner. He greatly enjoyed his family, golfing, traveling, attending antique auto shows and “yakking” with anyone and everyone (once a salesman, always a salesman!). He is survived by his daughter, Gibby (Greg) Lozeau, son, Bruce (Carla) Springer, granddaughter, Sarah Lozeau and grandsons, Cameron Lozeau and Jacob Stanton. He also leaves behind many caring neighbors and friends. Arrangements have been made with Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph and with Fairplain Presbyterian Church. Visitation will take place on Sunday, January 6, from 3:00 to 6:00 pm at Fairplain Presbyterian Church, 210 W. Napier Ave, Benton Harbor, MI 49022. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, January 19 at 11:00 am at Fairplain Presbyterian Church. He will be laid to rest with his wife at Ruggles Cemetery in Baroda, Michigan. A graveside veteran’s service and internment of cremains will be conducted this spring at Ruggles Cemetery. This date and time are pending.
