Carol J. Barnes

Carol Jane Barnes, born March 14, 1935 in St. Joseph, Michigan died Sunday morning, December 30, 2007 at Silverbrook Manor in Niles, Michigan. Carol was an avid St. Joe sports fan. She loved football, basketball and listening to the marching band. She was such a special person who formed deep connections with everyone who crossed her path and will be greatly missed by many people in the community. Carol’s interests included: riding her bike, following the Chicago Cubs, reading the Herald Palladium, playing catch, bowling, swimming and all kinds of music to sing and dance to. She loved going on road trips, being at family get-togethers, watching the Blossomtime Parade and Sunday Band Concerts at the band shell. Carol worked at Gateway from 1965 to 1995. Surviving her are her sisters, Sue Ann Burch (James) of St. Joseph, MI and Marylou Cate (Michael) of Lone Tree, CO, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Carol had many wonderful friends watching out for her. Thank you to her best friend, Bob MacKay and her extended family, Pat and Jean Ryan, also her caregivers Leanna and Clay Westfall and Phillis and Keith Jewel (Berrien Springs). Her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Preceding Carol in death were her parents Stuart Remington Barnes and Clara Mary (Gustafson) Barnes, her favorite Aunt B.I. and several other Aunts and Uncles.
