Theresa's Obituary
Theresa Stokes, 68, of Benton Harbor died at her home on Friday surrounded by her family, after battling cancer for eight years.
Friends may call from 5:00- 8:00 P.M. Monday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road; where the Rosary will be recited at 7:30 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 555 Delaware, Benton Harbor; with Father Bill Jacobs, Jr officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memorial Garden. Memorials may be given to Hospice at Home or to the Morton House. Theresa was born in Bari, Italy, on December 2, 1938 to Joseph & Cirieca (Episcopo) Mondelli. On September 6, 1958 she married Norman Stokes at St. John’s Catholic Church in Benton Harbor. She earned her United States Citizenship on November 19, 1959. For 21 years she worked at Hull School as a lunch lady. She was a member of Triganta Service League, The Morton House, and Retired Benton Harbor School Personnel.
Theresa enjoy cooking, spending time with her family, friend and trying new restaurants.
She is survived by her husband Norman of Benton Harbor ; a daughter Debra Stokes of Palatine IL; son David Stokes of Berrien Springs MI; and a brother Joey Mondelli of Chicago IL.
She was preceded in death by a son Daniel Joseph Stokes, a brother John Mondelli and a daughter in law Dee Dee Stokes
