Bonita's Obituary

Bonita “Bonnie” Kugle, 76, of St. Joseph, passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2007 at her home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:30 A.M. Tuesday at Scottdale United Methodist Church, 4271 Scottdale Rd., St. Joseph with Rev. Terrill Schneider officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Run Cemetery. Friends may call from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Monday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to Scottdale United Methodist Church. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Mrs. Kugle was born November 9, 1930 in Benton Harbor to William & Mary (Geisler) Davis. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1948. On November 12, 1949, she married Charles W. Kugle in St. Joseph. Bonnie was employed at Inter-City Bank, at the Nickerson Ave. & Riverview Drive locations in Benton Harbor for forty-plus years, retiring as a loan officer. She was a member of the Scottdale United Methodist Church, where she formerly served as organist & choir director. Bonnie joined VFW Post #1137 Auxiliary in 1963 and served as President from 1971-1973 and 1978-1979, and served as Secretary from 1979-2007. She was always baking & cooking for their many fund raisers & dinners. Bonnie was also a member of Coloma American Legion Post #362 Auxiliary. Bonnie is survived by her brother Donald (Alice) Davis of St. Joseph; and by her nephews & nieces-Glenn Davis of St. Joseph, Sonya Menchinger of Benton Harbor, Gloria Martin of San Diego, Karen Putnam of Holland, and Jack Martin of Coloma. She was preceded in death by her parents, and by her husband Charles on May 25, 2001.
